Slacknote (nl)
Slacknote didn't find his musical calling until he picked up a bass and started to fiddle around with tape recorders and a drum machine. Pigeonholing is not something anyone can do with Slacknote's music. He has a wide variety of styles that can be browsed on his website. You will see a breakcore release on Pendeho records, an IDM and a drum 'n bass release on fear records, a drum 'n bass release on Evol Intent and numerous odd remixes with style descriptions like punk 'n bass, punk dub and darkhop.
For the track "Irie Thoughts" he combined IDM-type noises with symfo-style acoustic drumming, a dubby bassline played on a fretless bass, a symfo-type of melody line, an accompanying steady piano line, and a Hip-Hop break. The result is a uniquely melodic track, hence the title.
He used a Washburn fretless bass, a Korg piano, a mixing desk, a DAW (digital audio workstation) and his intuition to produce this unique track.
